Today it was announced to much uncritical media fanfare that David Miliband was to become the new president and CEO of an American charity known as the International Rescue Committee (effective September this year).
For critical background on the anti-democratic undertaking of this charity, whose international activities are closely entwined with the US government’s foreign policy making establishment, see this report produced by Right Web some years ago; or for a more detailed investigation of their work see Eric Chester’s book Covert Network: Progressives, the International Rescue Committee, and the CIA (M.E. Sharpe, 1995).
At his new charitable home Miliband will enjoy rubbing shoulders with fellow board members like Gordon Smith, who is the CEO of Card Services at JPMorgan Chase (which of course is Tony Blair’s favorite haunt) and Tracy Wolstencroft, the Managing Director of Goldman Sachs. Other notable ruling class elites based at the International Rescue Committee include not least Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice.
